Owls Rise: 2020s Modern Protests
Similar to early FAU students, modern FAU continue to share the same spirit of attentiviness, spirit, and passion. This section covers three protests from the 2020s including Palestinian/Israeli support, anti-ICE, and opposition to President Adam Hasner's nomination. Students have come together to advocate for social justice and continuing to preserve a campus that welcomes everyone.
On May 15th 2024, FAU attendants gathered in front of the Administration Building showcasing support for Palestinians amid rising tensions between Palestine, Israel, and the HAMAS organization. The protest was organized by the student-led "Solidarity". Solidarity is a student-lead organization advocating for social justice and awareness on current issues. FAU had publicly showed solidarity with Israel, prompting Solidarity's demonstration. Counter protests from students showing pro-Israel sentiments followed in the days after.
